Legal Document Assistance

As you probably know, obtaining a marital dissolution requires various forms to be completed and filed with the court before the judge grants your dissolution. Even those going through an amicable divorce may not want to deal with this headache. This is where I come in, as your Legal Document Assistant (LDA). Previously referred to as Independent Paralegals, California established the LDA designation and requires county registration. I am a member of the California Association of Legal Document Assistants, Inc. (CALDA), which promotes and encourages high standards of ethical and professional conduct by its members, and am registered in Orange County (Registration No. 526, exp. 12/12/2024). Additionally, I am a Certified Paralegal through the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).

For self-represented (pro-se) spouses wishing to file an uncontested divorce, meaning both parties are in agreement, I can prepare and file the papers required for you to obtain your judgment of dissolution. Please note that I am not a California attorney and I cannot give legal advice to your or to your spouse. I can only provide self help services at your specific direction. Your documents will be prepared in response to your specific instructions. As an affordable option, rates depend on whether document preparation is an add-on service to your mediation or a stand-alone service.

For clients with attorney representation, I am glad to work with your attorney in order to streamline the process at your request. For those who haven’t formally retained an attorney but are interested in an attorney review prior to filing, which is always recommended, I partner with attorneys who may provide these services for you. We can discuss this in more detail during your consultation to determine exactly which services will be necessary.
